Shivani - Singapore, Bachelor of Law

An opportunity I wouldn’t have had if I’d stayed back home.

I came to Hobart from Singapore to study Law. My parents were very protective of me. Mum spoke to the residential staff and they put her mind at ease. They took really good care of me. Jane is safe and secure and this was important to my family and me.

Coming from another country I found the social events during orientation week helped me to adjust to my new life. It feels like if I’m worried about something people are approachable and friendly.

The thing I liked about Jane were the people and relationships that you make. There is a strong community spirit. People are bonded together here. In other places people don’t even know each other. The optional College tutorials have also been a great help to me, having someone look through my assignments. It’s very convenient. I can see someone else studying law at anytime because they live right here in College.

Next year I’m going to have a go at helping to improve Jane in a position of student leadership. This is an opportunity I wouldn’t have had if I’d stayed back home.

Jane is safe and secure and this was important to my family and me.
